Disney’s Aristocat movie

Aristocats was Walt Disney’s 20th animated feature-length film. Released in 1970, it was also the last film Walt gave his approval for prior to his death.

The movie tells the story of a family of aristocratic cats who are forced to leave their home in Paris and move to the country. There, they meet a new friend – a street-wise tomcat named Thomas O’Malley. Together, they all work to get back to Paris and reclaim the Aristocat’s home.

Set in Paris in 1910, millionairess Madame Adelaide Bonfamille lived in a grand house with her pampered and devoted cats along with her butler, Edgar.

Edgar was not fond of the cats and planned to get rid of them so that he could inherit Madame’s fortune. One night, he fed them all a knock-out potion (creme de la creme a la Edgar) in their food. As they slept, he transported them to the country in the hope they would never come home.

Returning home to Madame

After being dumped on the side of the road, Duchess and her kittens met Thomas O’Malley, a street-wise alley cat that fell head over heels for Duchess.

Together, they meandered through creeks, fields and roads to find their way back to Paris. Of course, it wasn’t without several mishaps along the way!

Once in Paris, O’Malley takes them to his ‘penthouse’ where they discover Scat Cat and The Alley Cats playing jazz tunes. They have a fun-filled night together before they set out the next day for Madame’s mansion.

Edgar, however, fools their plan. He hears them meowing and captures them once again. To be sure they don’t return again, he arranges for them to be picked up by a delivery truck and sent to Timbuktu.

Roquefort, anxious to have his friends back home and to do away with Edgar, runs after O’Malley and informs him of their troubles. After gathering up Scat Cat and The Alley Cats, all of them eventually outsmart Edgar and it is he that is thrown in the trunk and shipped to Timbuktu.

Madame is so overjoyed that her precious cats are back home, she opens her house to any cat in need of a home – with Scat Cat and the others being the first inhabitants.
