Why choose offsite Disney World hotels?

🔷 They’re less expensive

Though of course, prices vary, hotels that can be found offsite tend to offer better value for money than those in the parks.

If you want to cut costs when taking a Disney vacation, then staying offsite is the most effective means of doing that.

🔷 You’re outside of the Disney bubble

Maybe you want to be in the Disney bubble 24/7 – and perhaps you don’t.

If you’d like to take a break from all the color, noise and child-centered attractions each day, then you might prefer to stay outside of the parks themselves.

Your resort will offer a different atmosphere, and some people find that far more relaxing.

🔷 It’s easier to visit other Orlando attractions

You might not be coming to Florida only for the Disney theme parks. Other attractions such as the Kennedy Space Center, Universal Studios, SeaWorld and of course the tropical beaches may also appeal.

If this is the case, it’s going to be quicker and easier to get around the area when staying outside of Disney World.

🔷 Extra space

Hotels outside of the parks often offer more space than those located inside.

Some are suite-only properties or offer spacious villas as well as hotel rooms.

The resorts may also be set on vast sites occupying multiple acres. This gives you more room to spread out, and also means the resort is likely to have space for better facilities.

  1. Lots of great advise. We love the Swan and Dolphin as well. We like that we are within walking distance to both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios and the atmosphere is wonderful.

    1. Christine says:

Yes! I love that it’s walking distance to those parks as well. It makes you feel like you are staying onsite at a Disney resort (which cost about double – not sure if you have seen the prices for the Boardwalk or Yacht Club lately).

  2. Val@thoughtfulneighbor.com says:

These hotels look amazing! Love all the amenities and that chandelier in the Dolphin lobby. Pinning it so I remember this next time we go to Disney. Headed to Universal next week. Let me know if you have any tips!

    1. Christine says:

Oh I’m sorry, I don’t have any Universal tips! We haven’t been there yet (I think I was there when I was 5). I’ve always heard the rides were for older children (and mine is 7), so we haven’t taken her. However, we just watched the first Harry Potter movie with her this past weekend, so maybe soon. We all need to come up to speed on it because I heard that part of Universal is great. My daughter is just starting to get out of the Princess phase 🙁 so we’ll have to see what comes next. Enjoy your trip! Thanks for commenting!

  3. Leah Deppert says:

What a great hotel review! I haven’t been to Disney in years, but this looks like a great place to stay. I especially love the extra touch of the s’more kit!

    1. Christine says:

Thanks for stopping by, Leah! There are so many great places to stay at Disney, but I loved that the Dolphin is basically right on property and I could use Marriott points to pay for it 🙂

  4. Love this post! I want to make a trip to Disney soon. I will definitely check this hotel out!

    1. Christine says:

Hi Alison – Yes, this hotel is the perfect balance – close to Disney, but not the higher Disney prices (although it’s on my bucket list to stay at the Wilderness Lodge villas). Please let me know if I can help you with anything Disney.

  5. This looks like a fantastic hotel and perfect for the family! As a fellow travel hacker, I love seeing the use of points for it! I’ll have to check this out next time we’re there!

    1. Christine says:

I love meeting other travel hackers! LOL Yes, we are headed on a Disney cruise this year, but I hope to stay here again in 2020. It was just an eye-opener staying close to Disney Property since I always use points to stay offsite. Thanks for stopping by!
