Disney’s Stroller Rental vs. Bringing Your Own

Now comes the big question that every parent faces: ‘Do I rent a stroller from Disney or bring my own?’

It’s like choosing between a Dole Whip and a Mickey Pretzel—both have their merits, but they offer different experiences.

I’ve been to Disney World over 20 times, and let me tell you, I’ve tried it all when it comes to strollers. I’ve lugged my own from home, rented directly from the theme parks, and ran to a Walgreens in Orlando for a cheapie.

Knowing the ins and outs of stroller life at Disney can make or break your trip, especially when you’re juggling diaper bags, snacks, and souvenirs. So, let’s break down the pros and cons of each option so you can make the best choice for your family’s adventure.

Disney’s Stroller Rental:

Pros:

  1. Convenience: You pick it up when you get to the park and drop it off on your way out. No lugging it around from your hotel or car.
  2. Cleanliness: Disney keeps their strollers super clean, so you don’t have to worry about sticky juice spills from the previous renter.
  3. Durability: These strollers are built like little tanks. They can handle the wear and tear of a full day at Disney.

Cons:

  1. Cost: It’s not cheap! The daily rental fee can add up, especially for longer trips.
  2. Comfort: While durable, they’re not always the most comfortable for naps or long rides. They are a hard plastic as opposed to a soft cushion.
  3. Availability: During peak times, there’s a chance they might run out. Yikes!

Bringing Your Own Stroller:

Pros:

  1. Familiarity: Your child is used to it, and you know all its quirks and storage spots.
  2. Cost Savings: No daily rental fees to worry about.
  3. Comfort: You probably picked your stroller because it’s comfy for your little one, right?

Cons:

  1. Hassle: You’ve got to get it from your car or hotel to the park and back. And don’t get me started on folding it up for the Disney buses!
  2. Wear and Tear: Your stroller will get a workout. Between the Florida sun and the miles you’ll put on, it takes a beating. Plus, if you are flying, you run the risk of the airline damaging or losing it.

You need to decide what’s most important for your family. If you can afford to splurge on the convenience, Disney’s rentals are a solid choice. But if you’re looking for comfort and cost-effectiveness, bringing your own might be the way to go.
